Yes — you can sit down and enjoy a proper brunch in Pienza at Le Cinque Lune. We serve pancakes with fresh fruit, avocado, grilled toast (or toasties, as you might prefer to call them), omelettes, ricotta fritters, fresh-squeezed juices, and good coffee — including your Americano! Brunch is available every morning from opening to about midday.
Pici is the traditional hand-rolled pasta of southern Tuscany: thick, chewy, and made with just flour and water — no eggs. Think of it as a thicker, rustic spaghetti. We make it by hand and serve it with ragù di cinghiale (wild boar ragù), one of the most iconic combinations in the region. If you only eat one pasta dish in Tuscany, this is it.
Absolutely. Pienza is the capital of pecorino di Pienza — a sheep's milk cheese produced on the surrounding hillsides. We serve it on our mixed boards (taglieri) alongside local cured meats and honey. It's available at lunch and aperitivo time. You can taste fresh, semi-aged and aged varieties — they're very different in flavour.
Yes, quite a bit. Ravioli with ricotta and spinach in butter and sage; parmigiana di melanzane; gnocchi al semolino with Parmigiano cream and truffle; avocado toast; ricotta fritters; egg dishes; pastries and desserts. We also offer vegan dishes such as panzanella, pici all'aglione (with tomato sauce and aglione, a typical garlic from this area), salads, and pizza. Just let us know and we'll guide you through the menu — or see if we can accommodate your needs.
We have a kid ourselves, so we know it matters. We have outdoor seating and a spacious room inside to fit you and your whole family. Pancakes, gelato cups, banana split, fresh juices, and Oreo milkshakes — plus pasta dishes that are usually a hit. No rush, no fuss.
Yes — artisanal gelato, served in cups. We also do elaborate ice cream sundaes: the Coppa Lotus, Banana Split, and many more. Homemade desserts include tiramisù, spoon desserts, cheesecake semifreddo, and artisanal cakes — made fresh on the premises.
Yes — made fresh daily at our sister pasticceria, Il Quinto Vizio. Gelato is denser, more intense in flavour and less sweet than ice cream — if you've only had ice cream outside Italy, the difference is immediately clear. You can try a classic cup with two scoops, or go all-in with one of our sundae copas: the Lotus and the Affogato al caffè are firm favourites.
Yes, we do serve Tuscan-style pizza, from classic margherita to a delicious, very Italian salsiccia e patate — sausage and potatoes.
Not quite — that's the tourist version of Italian food. In reality, Italians typically eat pasta at lunch and save the evening for meat or fish dishes, salads, and lighter plates. At Le Cinque Lune you'll find the full picture: if you've had enough pasta for one trip, or just want something lighter, try our pollo alla cacciatora (chicken slow-cooked with tomatoes, olives and herbs), roast duck with orange sauce and sautéed vegetables, vitello tonnato, or our proper meal-sized salads — Caesar and Niçoise among them. Our menu travels a little further than the region.
Absolutely. We serve tea, fresh juices, milkshakes, and soft drinks alongside all the Italian coffee you'd expect. No one will judge you for skipping the espresso.
Not a full English, but close enough to feel familiar: eggs your way, ham, cheese toasts, grilled bread — the kind of morning plate that sets you up properly for a day of walking. Plus pancakes if you fancy something on the sweeter side.
Not quite — but we do grilled toast with ham and cheese or vegetables, savoury crepes with chianina meat, omelettes and comfort food that fill the same sort of comfort-food gap. And honestly, once you try our avocado toast with burrata and salmon you may not look back.
This is Italy — it would be stranger if you didn't. We serve wine by the glass from lunchtime, including a very decent Nobile di Montepulciano that's made about 20km from where you're sitting.

We're open every day (except Thursday) from 8:30 in the morning until around 21:00. No split shifts — you can come for breakfast, stay for lunch, and return for aperitivo. Here's how the day breaks down:
We accept all major credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, and contactless. No need to hunt for an ATM before you visit. Pro tip: you'll almost always find a Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank in Tuscan towns, so look one up on Google Maps when you need to withdraw.

Yes — we have outdoor tables on Largo Roma for people-watching in the sun, and a spacious, calm indoor room if you need to sit quietly, rest your feet, or simply take a break from the heat.
Yes — we have wifi, just ask our staff for the password. We're happy to welcome remote workers and laptop users, especially during quieter hours. On busy days and at peak times we may ask that tables are kept available for guests having a meal. If you're looking for a calm spot to work in Pienza with good coffee and a decent connection, we're a good place to start.

Yes — and we're very convenient for it. The nearest public car park is in Viale Mario Mencattelli, just outside the city walls. It's paid parking (EasyParking app accepted). It's a great place to start your visit: park, walk two minutes, and stop at Le Cinque Lune for a good Americano or an Italian espresso and something sweet before hitting the old town.
Pienza's historic centre is mostly pedestrian. The car park is about a 3–5 minute walk from our door.
100% yes. Pienza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site — one of the finest examples of Renaissance urban planning in the world, built on the orders of Pope Pius II in the 15th century. It's small but extraordinarily beautiful: stone alleys, dramatic views over the Val d'Orcia valley, and excellent food and wine. From Siena it's about 50km; from Florence around 120km. Worth every kilometre. Why not stop for a Gin Tonic before heading out?
A half day is enough to see the main sights — Piazza Pio II, the Cathedral, Palazzo Piccolomini, and the city walls with their Val d'Orcia view. A full day lets you eat well, browse the cheese and wine shops, and take it all in without rushing. Combine it with Montepulciano (20km) or Montalcino (25km) for a perfect Tuscan day. If you pass through Montepulciano Stazione, make sure to stop at our sister gelateria Il Quinto Vizio — artisan pastry and gelato, well worth the detour.
Three things: its Renaissance architecture and urban planning (UNESCO since 1996); the Val d'Orcia landscape, one of the most photographed in Italy; and pecorino di Pienza, the local sheep's milk cheese. You'll find cheese shops on almost every corner of the main street.
Absolutely. You're right in the middle of two of Italy's most prestigious wine zones: Brunello di Montalcino to the west and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano to the east. At Le Cinque Lune we serve Nobile di Montepulciano by the glass during aperitivo — a great introduction. For full tastings and cellar visits, we're happy to point you in the right direction.
Yes — our online menu is available in English, Italian, Korean and Russian, and our staff can help you in English and Spanish, and in Russian on the right day. We welcome guests from all over the world and we'll do our best to make you feel at home. And if by chance you catch us on a slower English day — we're Italian, we'll explain ourselves with gestures of course!
At Le Cinque Lune, yes. Pancakes, avocado toast, milkshakes, banana splits, sundaes — served alongside proper Tuscan dishes. You don't have to choose between the two, and many of our guests don't.
The most photographed view is from the city walls on the south side of Pienza, looking out over the Val d'Orcia valley towards Monte Amiata. It's a 5-minute walk from our door. Go in the golden hour before sunset for the best light — then come back to us for aperitivo or a gelato.
Perfectly. It's safe, walkable, and easy to navigate. A solo slow morning — brunch at Le Cinque Lune, a walk to the walls, a browse through the cheese shops, lunch with a glass of local wine — is one of the nicer ways to spend a few hours in Tuscany.
Tipping is not mandatory in Italy — unlike in the US. You may notice a small coperto (cover charge) on your bill, which covers bread and table service for 2.5€. That's normal and not a trick. If you enjoyed your meal, leaving a tip is a kind gesture but never expected.
